A home solar panel system is made up of components that convert solar energy into usable energy for your home (lights, appliances and devices).
1. Solar panels
Solar panels are made of photovoltaic cells that convert sunlight to direct current electricity (DC electricity). As long as the sun ray’s are making contact with your roof, your panels are converting solar radiation into electricity. Even when it’s cloudy, you can still expect your solar panels to produce 10% to 25% of their normal output.
2. Solar Inverter
The inverter takes the DC electricity produced by your solar panels and turns it into alternating current electricity (AC electricity). It’s usually installed on an exterior wall of your house, or in the garage.
3. Main electric service panel
Solar electricity from your inverter flows to the electrical panel, then into your home where it powers your lights and appliances. If your solar panels generate more energy than you use, the excess power will flow to the utility grid. Even better? You might even earn energy credits from your local utility for the power you send.
4. SunWise Meter
Our meter monitors your solar panels and overall system production, sending the information to us through a wireless signal. Since it tracks your energy production 24/7, it will automatically alert us if it detects problems or irregularities. That way, we can make sure your entire system is in the very best shape without you ever having to lift a finger.
5. Utility meter
When your solar panels produce more than you need, the excess energy is sold back to your utility and credited to your monthly electric bill. When you need more energy than your solar panels can produce, your home will automatically pull the energy from your utility.
Once approved for a solar panel installation, we will perform a site assessment for your home, and one of our technicians will schedule a visit with you to confirm the design of your solar panels and full solar energy system.
After that, our Solar Design Experts will make any necessary adjustments to the design of your solar panels and get your final approval. Once it’s approved, we’ll submit your design to the city for permitting (which can take four to eight weeks). From there, we will install your solar panels.
When your installation is finished, your city or county will perform a final inspection of your system.
We have an entire team of professionals standing by to help you transfer your contract, if applicable, to the new owners. Our service transfer team handle everything from educating realtors and potential buyers to working with escrow officers, title agents, home inspectors, and anyone else who might need to know about your system and solar lease.
How long home solar panels last? Studies show that solar panels can last anywhere from 20 to 30 years or sometimes longer. At this point it’s not that they break down – it’s that they produce less energy than what would be considered optimal.
Your home battery allows you to store the electricity your solar panels produce during the day and use it when you need it most—such as in the evening during the time of use (TOU) peak pricing or when the electric grid fails due to an extreme weather event or physical damage to the equipment.
Automatically store excess solar energy during the day for use at night or during outages. Solar batteries help keep costs down.
When you use power from your own solar panels, you rely less on the grid and local establishments to keep you going.
Avoid unexpected exorbitant energy bills and expensive peak hours pricing by pairing solar panels with batteries.
Keep the lights on, protect your family, and secure your home during power outages. Storage systems allow your home to run 24/7.
Reduced Energy Costs: Solar panels generate electricity from sunlight, which reduces your reliance on grid power and lowers your electricity bills.
Environmental Impact: Solar panels offer clean and renewable energy, helping to reduce greenhouse gasses.
Government Incentives: Many local governments in NJ, NY, and PA offer incentives, rebates, and tax credits to encourage homeowners to adopt solar energy, making it a financially attractive option.
Increased Property Value: Homes with solar installations are often perceived as more valuable in the real estate market, increasing the resale value of your property.
Properties powered by solar panels typically sell for higher prices than comparable properties without. Using a reputable, experienced solar panel installation company like Sunwise is how you make sure that you investment is protected.
